Community guidelines

Helpful reviews start with honesty.

The same principles apply to every review and every business.

Write from your own experience.

Describe a genuine interaction you personally had with the business. Explain what happened and when. Positive, mixed and negative experiences are all welcome. Don't invent a transaction, copy someone else's review or post on their behalf.

Keep your review independent.

Do not review your own business, your employer or a business where a close personal or financial relationship creates a conflict. Don't buy, sell or exchange reviews. Reviews should not be written in return for payment, discounts or other incentives.

Be specific and respectful.

Focus on the experience rather than personal attacks. Criticism is welcome; threats, harassment, discriminatory abuse, spam and advertising are not. Explain factual observations and clearly distinguish them from your opinions.

Protect private information.

Do not publish passwords, payment details, government identifiers, private contact information, order numbers or other information that could identify or expose another person. A public review is not the place to exchange sensitive documents.

Choose the right business.

Check the company name and website before submitting. You can update your review from your account. Changes return the review to moderation before it is published again. You can also remove your own review from public view.

For businesses: invite fairly and reply constructively.

Invite honest feedback from customers without screening for a positive experience. Don't pressure people to change or remove criticism. Replies should help explain or resolve the experience while protecting the customer's privacy. Business managers can reply to reviews; they cannot directly edit customer reviews.

Reporting, decisions and appeals

Use “Report this review” when you believe a specific rule has been broken. Provide a clear reason and helpful context. Reports are private and reviewed by moderators. Disagreement with a rating by itself is not a reason to remove a review.

A rejected review, claim or report can be appealed from My requests & appeals; review appeals also appear alongside the review in your account. Explain what the moderator should reconsider. Moderation decisions and reasons are recorded.
